Vendor Reviews

I know there are a lot of A's on this pages but let me assure you its not just because I'm super easy to please. I think I just had rockstar vendors.

Windows on Minnesota - A

I loved my venue, it was so beautiful and the views were fabulous! Sam was the coordinator I worked with and I can't say enough great things about him. The weeks before the wedding he would sometimes get 3 e-mails a week from me and he would always answer them pretty promptly. When negotiating the contract I asked for some amendments and they were all fulfilled. Basil's restaurant, which is part of the Marquette hotel did the catering. The food was fabulous, guests are still telling me it was amazing. The only thing that DH and I noticed is that the portions were smaller than the tasting which was a little disappointing. The servers were super attentive, my wine glass was always full and dirty plates were never on the table for longer than a few seconds. A word to the wise, I had previously heard complaints from other girls who were married here that they ran out of cake when the staff cut it up. I'm pretty sure they cut extra large pieces or something. I should have had enough cake for 160 people, but only had 110 guests. Even with saving the top layer I should have had about 25 pieces left over but there were only like 8 or 9. It wasn't a big deal to me at all because so much extra but for those who don't you might want to say something to the severs.

Marquette Hotel - A

The Marquette Hotel is the one who owns Windows so it was only natural for us to do our room block with them. They were great about getting it set up and even let me add more rooms a few months before. I did have to sight a contract saying I was responsible for 70% of the rooms that I block but for me with over 90% of my guest list from out of town it was no big deal at all. The staff was helpful and DH and I were given a very nice suite the night of the wedding. Guests loved the location and how it was so close to everything from the Crystal Court with its dinning to the closeness to the light rail system. I was a little disappointed that there were several places online where similar rooms could be booked at the hotel for about $20 cheaper a night. But really thats my only complaint.

Midwest Sound - A

Great to work with, also a great deal price wise. Joe was our DJ and he had an assistant who's name escapes me. I can't remember them playing a bad song all night. The dance floor was hopping from start to finish. Guests even started tipping them so they would keep the songs going! Only negative thing is that they asked for a time line of the night with the speeches. Part of this might have been mis-communication but they didn't "initiate" the toasts by bringing us the mic or anything so that part of the night was a little discombobulated, I know I was probably the only one that noticed though. That little bump by no means affected the rest of the night.

Hennepin Ave United Methodist Church - A

Very beautiful church, our pastor Sally was great at the ceremony and also during our premarital counseling which we had to do over skype since we live in NV. They had candle abbras and aisle torches available for use and that was all we did for decoration. The only thing that stops me from giving them an A+ is I spent the entire planning process talking to one coordinator but a week before the wedding I am given another. Both were great but there were a few things that weren't communicated between them there I had to repeat to make sure it wasn't left out.

Petals and Springs and Twigs - A

I never actually got to meet Molly which makes me sad. My mom met her for the original consultation with a few ideas and Molly sent me some e-mails of photos she thought would compliment my bridesmaids dresses and I like them so I went for it. They turned out very very pretty and I couldn't have asked for better. Very reasonably priced too.

Aspen Limo - A-

Going into the wedding this was the only vendor that I was nervous about. I hadn't really heard any reviews for them on the knot boards but they were the only company who would book for a two hour block since it was prom season and I didn't want it all night. Booking was a little complicated, I had to call them a few times so they would process my deposit. The guy that was on the phone had a thick accent which made a lot of things difficult to understand and make sure things were communicated correctly such as addresses. However on the day of the wedding they were there on time and everything went off without a hitch. No complaints.

Wedding Shoppe - B+

We purchased both my dress and the BM's dresses here. They were great to work with and my dress came in a lot sooner than expected. Because I don't live in state they were will to hold it for me longer than the one month limit. The BMs were a little slow in all getting measured and paying but the WS was great about keep track of everything even when I changed the color of the dresses before they were ordered. They even called me to ensure that I wanted my JR bridesmaid's dress the new color when I changed my mind. (Ironic because shes not actually a JR Bridesmaid shes just really short haha, but I appreciated the gesture!) Turns out the 'JR bridesmaid' dress didn't fit at all even though they recommended that size. When I called them about it they offered to make the necessary alterations to make it look right for free. The only thing I really didn't like is the sizes that they recommended for all the BMs turned out to be WAAAY to big, which cost everyone about $100 more in alterations. So that was disappointing.

Paper Depot - B-

I used their help for creating a mock-up invitation.  They were great providing any assistance in measuring and making sure I had a place to work. When I picked up all the supplies I needed for my invites they didn't have enough of one kind of paper and offered to order it and it would arrive in 6-10 days. Two weeks later I hadn't heard anything from them so I called to see if it had come in yet. The women said whoever was working with me had forgotten to place the order and it would be another 6-10 days. I was in the process of moving out of town so I had to wait until Christmas to come back and get it several weeks later. They did call me to tell me it was in but when I went it less then half of the paper was actually there. They said the supplier didn't have anymore and it would be several more weeks until they were able to complete my order. I understand that its not their fault their supplier didn't have it but  I wish they had told me that over the phone when they called to say it was ready. I had already completed about half my invites when I found out I wouldn't get anymore paper. Its 3 months later and I still don't have my paper and had to ultimately make less invites and make super sure I didn't mess up anything. I ended up canceling the rest of my order because they needed to be sent out.

CraftyEddy - A+

Awesome, I e-mailed him an inquiry on a Friday night and after several back and forth e-mails and multiple proofs, he made and shipped my cake topper that Monday and I received it on Thursday. Awesome! You can e-mail him at [email protected]. I was a little worried about ordering from someone without a website but I'm telling you he's great.

123Print - A

We ordered return address labels. They were super cheap and came pretty quickly, no complaints.

RomancingJuliet - F

RomancingJuliet is a shop on Etsy and was sadly the most disappointing vendor I worked with. I loved a blue toss garter Beth was selling and on the site it said the order could take up to a month to be received. This understood I ordered it with about 3 months until my wedding. After a month and a half I still hadn't heard anything. I messaged her and she replied several days later saying she had been ill and would get it out by the end of the week. Two weeks later I still hadn't been sent a tracking number as promised and sent another message. It took about a week to get a response that she had been ill again and would get it out by that Friday. At this point I was getting concerned about getting the garter at all before the wedding. I told her if she had it out by the following Monday it would be fine and if not to please let me know and cancel my order. Well that Monday I received a message from Etsy saying my order had been canceled. Ugh.

HelloDesignCrew - A+

I contacted HelloDesignCrew on Etsy after I wasn't able to get my garter from RomancingJuliet. I explained that I was crunched for time and would gladly pay extra if she could get my garter out asap. She said no problem, didn't charge me extra and my garter arrived about 3 days later AND it was beautiful. Very happy customer.

SilverLotusDesigns - A+

Silver Lotus Designs is a shop on Etsy that has some adorable stuff! Darcee was awesome to work with. She offered so many customizable options at no extra charge. Take a look at the BM attire to see the necklaces I purchased from her.

Kate Botwinski Photography - Coming Soon

Kate and Sam were awesome to take photos with the day of the wedding! I haven't seen the final product so I'll finish the review in a couple weeks!
